President Ruto Presides over GCA-Africa Headquarters Groundbreaking | University of Nairobi
Climate change has enormously disrupted the African economies and disenfranchised many communities across the continent. Global adaptation and climate change action provide opportunities to buttress African economies from the effects of climate change.
The groundbreaking of the construction of the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) provides hope to African communities, that there's a worldclass institution based in Africa to develop solutions to the climate change risks and vulnerabilities that we face as a continent.
The Kenya School of Government and Kenya will host GCA Dual Headquarters, Africa and, will immensely benefit from the partnership with GCA through research, policy development, technical support and training of public service providers to reengineer the continent's efforts to adapt to and mitigate climate change.
Today Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programmes Hon. Geoffrey Ruku joined the President H.E William Samoei Ruto, the Fourth President of Senegal and the Chairperson of the Supervisory Board of GCA H.E Macky Sall, the Former Secretary General of UN and Honorary Chairperson of the Supervisory Board of GCA H.E Ban Ki-Moon, colleague Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Forestry Dr. Deborah Barasa, Principal Secretaries and the CEO of GCA and Chancellor of the University of Nairobi Prof. Patrick Verkooijen and other leaders for the groundbreaking ceremony at KSG, Nairobi.
