US federal agency, NTSB, issued strong rebuke of recent media coverage made over preliminary investigative report of AAIB. NTSB is responsible for the investigation of aviation accidents and significant transportation events in USA. National Transportation Safety Board’s Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy called media reports "premature and speculative". She went on to urge the public and media to await official findings by AAIB before drawing conclusion based on preliminary investigative report. On July 17th, AAIB noted strong appeal to public and media over "selective, unverified reporting" by certain international outlets in aftermath of crash. AAIB reaffirmed, investigation into Air India crash is being conducted in "rigorous and most professional manner in accordance with international protocols”. The Bureau cautioned that the high-profile nature of the tragedy has "drawn public attention and shock”.
