Polyamorous Parents Defy Critics: Raising Kids With Girlfriend & Two Wives Proves It Works

In a modern family dynamic challenging traditional norms, Trell, alongside his two wives, Emily and Allie, and his girlfriend, Kiley, are collaboratively raising a family. This unique polyamorous household has three children: 4-year-old Reign, 2-month-old baby Chicago, and Trell’s 16-year-old daughter, Lili, from a previous relationship, who was also raised with the support of the family. The recent addition of Kiley to the family has reportedly brought significant benefits, particularly in the demanding task of raising children.

Allie shared that life has become notably "easier" since Kiley joined, describing her as "definitely another helping hand." Trell explained that while they weren't actively seeking another partner, Kiley's "different energy" made her a natural fit. Kiley, new to polyamorous relationships, described herself as always having been an "open person," facilitating her integration into the established family unit.

The family embraces a close-knit lifestyle, including their sleeping arrangements. Emily humorously noted that they "never sleep separately," instead being "piled on to the bed like sardines." Adjustments were initially required, especially for Lili when Kiley joined, but the two are now inseparable. For the younger children, Reign and Chicago, a polyamorous family structure is all they have ever known.

Trell addresses societal misconceptions directly, stating, "Society tends to think of poly relationships as inappropriate for children but that's not the case. All they know is they got more love in the house." The mothers express profound gratitude for the collective support, with Emily confessing her disbelief at the challenges faced by "single mums," even recalling the exhaustion when it was just herself and Allie. To manage the demanding schedule, the trio operates in shifts, allowing one to rest while the others care for the children.

Despite sharing insights into their life online, the family frequently encounters cruel comments from trolls who doubt the longevity of their relationship, and Trell has faced accusations of being a "pimp." However, the family remains unfazed by such negativity. Trell challenges critics by asking, "If we love each other and we have a family and we're building a family, what does that have to do with you? It's just ignorant." They have also distanced themselves from friends who disapprove of their dynamic, adopting a "good riddance" attitude towards those who don't support their love. Allie succinctly summarizes their philosophy: "They say it takes a village to raise a kid, well this is it."
