Political Turmoil: Cross River NDC Candidate Demands Leaders Stay Focused

Mr. Ededem Hogan, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for the Akpabuyo/Bakassi/Calabar South Federal Constituency, has issued a direct charge to the chapter and ward leaders of the party within Akpabuyo local government area. Speaking at a meeting held at Nakanda Ward in Akpabuyo on Tuesday, Hogan, represented by party chieftain Mr. Effiom Henshaw, emphasized the critical need for party members to maintain unwavering focus and avoid any distractions as the 2027 general election draws nearer.

Hogan underscored the party's ultimate objective: to successfully secure the House of Representatives’ seat in the upcoming elections. He explicitly stated, "Let us not be distracted. Let us organise to win the House of Representatives’ seat in the forthcoming election," reinforcing the strategic importance of this particular electoral contest for the NDC in the constituency.

Apologizing for his absence due to urgent party engagements at the National Secretariat in Abuja, the NDC candidate conveyed a strong message of urgency to the gathered leaders. He highlighted that with only three months remaining until the election, there was absolutely no room for complacency. Hogan urged the leaders to be proactive and diligent in their efforts, stating, "With barely three months to the election, there is much to be done. We must take our message of hope to the nooks and crannies of Akpabuyo and beyond." He further instructed them to ensure that all distributed campaign materials effectively reach every household within the constituency.

In his address, Hogan articulated the pivotal role of the chapter and ward leaders, describing them as the primary messengers of the campaign. He expressed his full reliance on their commitment, noting, "I am counting on you to carry our message with conviction, explain our commitments clearly and encourage our people to participate." He concluded by reassuring the party faithful that his campaign, which is anchored on the resonant theme "Ready to Serve," is well on its path to victory, and he pledged to uphold the trust that has been placed in him by the party and the electorate.

Adding to the momentum, Comrade Ekpenyong Bassey, the NDC chapter chairman for Akpabuyo local government area, also addressed the party supporters. He passionately urged them to work with utmost dedication and resolve towards achieving a resounding "5/5" victory for the party, encompassing all levels from the presidential position down to the ward level. Bassey articulated that such a comprehensive victory would be instrumental in ushering in the desired change for the country, which he believes would effectively put an end to the pervasive poverty and economic hardship currently afflicting the nation.
