Political Party Sounds Alarm: Children At Risk Amidst Growing Vulnerability!

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed grave concern over the escalating insecurity and the alarming vulnerability of schoolchildren across Nigeria. This concern was voiced during a recent condolence visit by the party's national leadership to Niger State, following the deeply distressing kidnapping incident at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The party described the abduction of the schoolchildren as a "heartbreaking and senseless" act, underscoring the severe challenges faced by the nation's educational system due to rampant insecurity.
The high-profile delegation from the PDP was led by its elected national chairman, Barrister Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN), and included prominent figures such as former Kano State governor, Senator Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, alongside other esteemed members of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC). Upon their arrival in Minna, the state capital, they were received by the Governor of Niger State, Honorable Mohammed Umar Bago, at the Government House. During the meeting, the PDP leaders conveyed their profound apprehension regarding the pervasive insecurity that continues to plague not only Niger State but also various other regions of the country.
In a comprehensive statement issued during the visit, the National Working Committee of the PDP vehemently lamented the increasing susceptibility of schoolchildren to attacks by bandits. The party unequivocally asserted that the fundamental right of every Nigerian child to pursue education in an atmosphere of peace and security must be safeguarded at all costs. Barrister Turaki articulated the party's strong condemnation, stating, "The kidnapping of innocent children is not only unacceptable but a grave affront to the values we hold dear as a nation." He further emphasized that the PDP "strongly condemns this attack and all other forms of terrorism targeted at citizens," reiterating the party's unwavering stance against violence and extremism.
Despite the somber occasion, Barrister Turaki took the opportunity to commend Governor Bago for his decisive and swift actions, particularly his effective collaboration with security agencies to ensure the safe release of the abducted children and to restore a semblance of stability to the affected communities. He also conveyed the PDP's steadfast solidarity with the people and government of Niger State, stressing that the party’s support transcends conventional political differences. Turaki affirmed, "We stand firmly with the people of Niger State through prayers and total support in this challenging moment. The sanctity of life is paramount, and the welfare and security of Nigerians remain our collective responsibility." This statement highlighted the bipartisan commitment required to address such national crises.
Concluding their visit, the Peoples Democratic Party reiterated its unwavering commitment to actively championing the implementation of more robust security measures and policies. These policies, the party insisted, must explicitly prioritize the comprehensive protection of human lives, with a particular focus on the safety and well-being of schoolchildren across the entire federation. The PDP emphasized its dedication to advocating for a secure environment where every child can learn and thrive without fear of abduction or violence.
