Political Fury Erupts: Accord Party Seeks Vengeance on Legal Counsel

The Osun State chapter of the Accord Party has issued a strong warning, threatening to refer Daniel Edeachi, counsel to one Oliver Bitrus, to the Legal Practitioners’ Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) for alleged gross professional misconduct. Victor Akande, the chairman of the party in Osun State, spoke to newsmen in Osogbo, leveling accusations against Edeachi for his purported failure to conduct proper investigations into the leadership structure of the party before initiating legal proceedings on behalf of Bitrus.
Akande specifically addressed a lawsuit filed by Oliver Bitrus, represented by Daniel Edeachi, marked FCT/CV/4955/2025. He vehemently dismissed several claims presented in the suit, including the assertion that a Federal High Court judgment had recognized one Prof Chris Imumolen as the national chairman of the Accord Party. Furthermore, Akande refuted the claim of the purported suspension of Chief Okey Nwosu as the deputy national chairman, clarifying that Nwosu had never held such a position within the party’s hierarchy.
The Osun State chairman accused Daniel Edeachi of neglecting his professional duty to observe due diligence and verify the claims made by Oliver Bitrus before proceeding to file the suit. Akande labeled all the plaintiffs' claims as "imaginary" and suggested they were "sponsored." He declared, "This is a conspiracy sponsored by wicked and desperate politicians to distract our party." He emphasized that the court had not affirmed the suspension of Maxwell Mgbudem as the National Chairman, noting that "The suit was properly dismissed by the court last year and has not been appealed against till date. These are facts that should have been verified by Daniel Edeachi before proceeding to mislead the courts."
Despite these challenges, Akande affirmed the Accord Party’s unwavering readiness for the upcoming governorship primary in Osun State. He stated, “Our party is ready and not distracted.” He highlighted recent internal party activities, including a National Working Committee (NWC) meeting earlier in the week and a subsequent National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, which is the party’s highest decision-making body. The NEC has since constituted a caretaker committee for Osun State, with Victor Akande himself appointed as its chairman, further dispelling any notion of factionalism within the Accord Party.
Akande further disclosed that the party’s NEC had also officially approved the electoral guidelines for the 2026 Osun State governorship primaries. An Electoral Committee has been established to oversee the exercise, ensuring transparency and adherence to due process. Concluding his statement, Akande confirmed that the NEC had passed a vote of confidence on the NWC, which is led by Maxwell Mgbudem, reinforcing the stability and unity within the party's leadership.
