Political Earthquake! Court Nullifies PDP Convention, Turaki Faction Vows Appeal

A Federal High Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, has nullified the National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held on November 15 and 16, 2025. Justice Uche Agomoh, presiding, ruled that the convention was conducted in flagrant disregard of subsisting court orders, thereby barring the Kabiru Turaki-led National Working Committee (NWC) from parading themselves as the party’s leadership. The court affirmed that the Caretaker Committee, led by Mohammed Abdulrahman and Senator Samuel Anyanwu, is the only recognized NWC of the PDP until a proper and lawful national convention is held. This judgment came despite the Turaki faction's suit (FHC/IB/CS/121/2025) seeking recognition for the Ibadan convention and validation of its NWC.
