Police Arrest Alleged Fake PFIPC Director-General in Osun Following Court Order

Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claims to be the Director-General of the alleged non-existent Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), has been arrested in Osun State by security operatives following a bench warrant issued by the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The arrest was confirmed by the spokesperson of the Osun State Police Command, Abiodun Ojelabi, who disclosed that Adeyemi was apprehended in a village in Ijesaland and is being transported to Abuja.

The operation was reportedly carried out by operatives of the Force Headquarters' Federal Investigation Department/Intelligence Response Team (FID/IRT) after the Department of State Services (DSS) tracked him for five days.

Justice Mohammed Umar had ordered Adeyemi's arrest after his repeated failure to appear in court to answer an eight-count charge bordering on forgery, fraud, and impersonation.

According to the prosecution, the case had been adjourned five times at the defendant's request before an application for a warrant of arrest was granted under the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.

Police investigations, which began following a petition from the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President in October 2025, allege that Adeyemi forged appointment letters and official documents bearing fake signatures, reference numbers, official seals, and the Nigerian Coat of Arms to present the PFIPC as a legitimate Federal Government agency.

Investigators further allege that Adeyemi operated from an office within the Federal Secretariat Complex in Abuja while presenting himself as the council's Director-General. Despite the allegations, he has consistently denied claims that the PFIPC is non-existent and had previously called on President Bola Tinubu to establish an independent panel to investigate an alleged N1.3 billion budget insertion for the council in the 2026 Appropriation Bill. Justice Umar has directed security agencies to produce Adeyemi before the court on September 30, 2026, for his arraignment.
