Police Rescue One Passenger As Search For Kidnapped Benue Links Bus Victims Continues

According to him, during the combing of the surrounding forest, the team rescued one of the victims, identified as Paul Terns, who managed to escape from the abductors.

The Benue State Police Command has confirmed the rescue of one of the passengers kidnapped by gunmen on Sunday evening.

SaharaReporters had reported that the incident occurred when a Hummer bus belonging to Benue Links Transport Company, with registration number 14B-143BN, was hijacked along the Otukpo-Otukpa Road in Okpokwu Local Government Area around 6:30 pm on Sunday.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Edet Udeme, while confirming the incident on Monday, explained that upon receiving the distress information, police tactical teams, in collaboration with the military and the Benue State Community Volunteer Guards, swiftly mobilised to the scene.

According to him, during the combing of the surrounding forest, the team rescued one of the victims, identified as Paul Terns, who managed to escape from the abductors.

"We are relieved that one of the victims has been rescued, and we are working tirelessly to secure the release of the remaining passengers," Udeme said.

"Additional reinforcements have been deployed to the area to intensify the search and ensure their safe return."

The police urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with ongoing investigations. The rescue operation is ongoing, with efforts being made to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
