Police Probe Shocking Attack on Thierno Barry's Friends at Emirates Stadium!
Merseyside and Metropolitan Police have initiated an investigation following claims by Everton striker Thierno Barry that several of his friends were "attacked" during Arsenal's 2-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium. Barry, who was introduced into the game as a substitute in the 69th minute, shared a video on his Instagram account depicting a scuffle that unfolded in the stands.
Accompanying the video clip, Barry posted a strong message on his Instagram Stories, stating, "This kind of behaviour is not acceptable in a stadium. I bring my friends to enjoy a game, and it gets ruined by a few silly people." He further emphasized the need for a safe environment in sports, adding, "Football should be a place where everyone feels safe and respected. This type of attitude has no place in the game and is simply not tolerated in football." Barry also reported that his friends and others involved in the attack had to be escorted by Arsenal club's security staff and the police, due to fears of potential retaliation from supporters.
In response to the incident, Merseyside Police's dedicated X (formerly Twitter) account for matters related to Everton acknowledged the situation, posting: "Aware of videos circulating online of an altercation in the away section towards the end of the #ARSEVE match. We're working with the Met Police to investigate." This confirms a joint effort between the two police forces to thoroughly examine the circumstances.
Everton Football Club has also released a statement regarding the claims, affirming its commitment to reviewing the details of the incident and collaborating with the relevant authorities. The club unequivocally condemned such actions, stating, "Violent or disorderly behaviour is completely unacceptable and has no place in football. It does not reflect the passionate and loyal support Everton receives both home and away." Everton urged anyone who witnessed or was involved in the altercation to contact Merseyside Police, providing a reference number (26000206746) to assist with the ongoing investigation.
