NEW DELHI: Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said that the police, Navy and Coast Guard have been placed on high alert across the state, with all standard operating procedures being strictly followed in view of the prevailing security situation.Addressing reporters, Fadnavis said a review meeting to assess the state’s internal security preparedness will be held later in the day. He was responding to a query on measures being taken to secure the state's coastline, a day after Pakistani attempts to strike Indian military installations were thwarted."Police, Navy and Coast Guard are on alert mode. Regular exercises are being undertaken, and whatever steps are needed as per the 'war book' are being implemented.

A review meeting on internal security will be convened later in the day. We are on alert mode," Fadnavis said. His remarks come in the backdrop of heightened tensions following India's missile strikes on nine terror targets in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Pakistan on Wednesday under Operation Sindoor, launched in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack that left 26 dead.Late Thursday night, Indian forces foiled another offensive by Pakistan, neutralising attempted missile and drone strikes targeting military bases in Jammu, Pathankot, Udhampur and several other locations.
