Pioneering Indian Cyber Firm CloudSEK Secures Historic US State Fund Backing!

Bengaluru-based cybersecurity company CloudSEK has successfully raised $10 million (approximately ₹90 crore) from Connecticut Innovations, which serves as the strategic venture capital arm of the State of Connecticut in the United States. This significant investment marks a historic milestone, positioning CloudSEK as the first Indian-origin cybersecurity firm to secure funding from a US state-backed venture fund.
This latest funding round, referred to as the B2 tranche, concludes CloudSEK's Series B round, which previously included a $19 million Series B1 round. The capital raised in this B2 tranche is a combination of primary and secondary capital, bringing the company's total funding to date to approximately $39 million. CloudSEK achieved this funding at an enterprise valuation nearing $200 million.
Rahul Sasi, co-founder and CEO of CloudSEK, emphasized the profound impact of this investment. He stated that it not only bolsters the company's global expansion plans but also underscores the increasing prominence and innovation of the Indian cybersecurity ecosystem on a worldwide scale. The company intends to leverage these fresh funds to foster job creation and expand its operational footprint within the United States. Currently, CloudSEK maintains a five-person team in the US, with plans to grow this to 15 by March and approximately 20 over the next 12 to 18 months, focusing on high-paying positions for top-tier talent. CloudSEK currently serves 20 clients in the US and aims to significantly increase this number to 200 customers within the next 12 months.
Founded in 2015 by Rahul Sasi, a cybersecurity researcher-turned-entrepreneur, CloudSEK has evolved from its origins as a research-focused initiative into a globally recognized and trusted cyber threat intelligence platform. It provides predictive cyber threat intelligence and serves over 300 enterprises across diverse sectors including BFSI (Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance), healthcare, technology, and government. The company currently employs around 250 individuals across various markets and plans to scale up to 300 by March, with a substantial 200-member team based in India.
Alison Malloy, Managing Director, Investments at Connecticut Innovations, commented on CloudSEK's distinction at their 2025 VentureClash India pitch event. She noted that CloudSEK stood out as an innovative provider of cybersecurity and predictive threat capabilities utilized by hundreds of businesses globally. Connecticut Innovations expressed its enthusiasm in welcoming CloudSEK to its portfolio and committed to supporting their team as they establish their US hub.
