GULF COAST (WKRG) — Some organizations and agencies took part in a historic snow day along the Gulf Coast, joining the many WKRG viewers who have spent the day building snowmen and playing in the flurries.

Gulf Coast Freeze: School closings, schedule changes

Here is a list of organizations along the Gulf Coast sharing their photos and videos.

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office shared on Facebook that inmate workers at the Baldwin County Corrections Center spent the day making a snowman.

They also shared the following message: “Stay off the roads if possible and call if you have an emergency! Expect conditions to worsen into the night and understand that emergency response could be delayed. Follow trusted sources and sites for updates and closures. Bundle up & be safe!”

The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office did not miss out on the snow day either.

Team Sheriff shared a video of Electronic Storage Device Detection K-9 Estie practicing her skills in the snow.

According to the sheriff’s office, Estie needs to train every day to improve in her job of finding electronic storage devices that may have child exploitation material.

Officials said the training paid off. “She found it!! And she even had to dig it up!!”

Baldwin EMC shared photos from the snow day as they provided updates.

According to Baldwin EMC’s Facebook post, the weather system has made it hard for crews to travel to do repairs.

Officials said, “For those without power, please know they are working as safely and quickly as possible to make repairs and get your power restored. For those with power, please do your best to limit the amount of power you’re using. Limit the use of non-essential appliances like ovens, dishwashers and dryers, keep lights off in unoccupied rooms, set your thermostat to 68 degrees or lower if possible. If you experience an outage, turn off your heater and wait 15 minutes until after power is restored before turning it back on.

“Thank you all for your patience and assistance!”

Escambia County Sheriff’s Office also shared photos of some deputies and a K-9 working out in the snow on Tuesday.
