Hundreds of sympathizers, including journalists, religious leaders, family members, and well-wishers, gathered in Kano,on Thursday morning, for the Fidda’u (third-day) prayer of Hajiya Rabi, mother of Daily Trust’s Editor-in-Chief, Mallam Hamza Idris.

The solemn prayer session, held at Rijiyar Zaki, Kano, followed the passing of Hajiya Rabi on Monday, June 23.

She was laid to rest the same day according to Islamic rites.

The Fidda’u prayer drew prominent figures from the media, academia, traditional institutions, and political circles, all of whom came to pay their respects and offer prayers for the repose of her soul.

Daily Trust reports that the late Hajiya Rabi was described by family and community members as a deeply religious, generous, and disciplined matriarch who played a vital role in the upbringing of her children and the moral guidance of those around her.

At the third day prayer, local scholars offered special supplications for the deceased and urged attendees to reflect on the transient nature of life.

Condolence messages have continued to pour in from across the country, with colleagues of the Editor-in-Chief and top media executives extending their heartfelt sympathies to the family.
