Phish Concert Shocker: Fatal Stabbing Leaves One Dead, Two Injured

A fatal stabbing incident occurred outside Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, Virginia, on Friday night, September 19, during a performance by the band Phish. Officers from the Hampton Police Division responded to reports of an altercation that escalated into violence on Coliseum Drive shortly after 9:30 p.m. ET.
According to a police report released on Saturday, one victim succumbed to their injuries after being transported to a local hospital. Two other individuals sustained injuries in the incident; a second victim was also transported for medical treatment, while a third adult male arrived at a local hospital as a walk-in, suffering from a non-life-threatening laceration. The Hampton Division of Fire and Rescue provided medical assistance at the scene. While the suspect fled, detectives successfully identified all parties involved and have characterized the event as an isolated incident.
Phish addressed the tragedy in a statement posted on social media on Saturday, expressing deep sadness. The band acknowledged the altercation took place behind one of the tents in an unofficial vending area in the parking lot, confirming that someone lost their life and two others were injured. They conveyed their hearts going out to all those affected by the incident.
Despite the tragic events, Phish's scheduled Saturday and Sunday night concerts in Hampton, which were set to conclude their summer tour, proceeded as planned. Looking ahead, lead singer and guitarist Trey Anastasio's solo band has fall gigs slated before Phish reconvenes for their traditional New Year’s Eve shows, a four-show series booked from December 28-31 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
The Hampton Police Division's Major Crimes Unit is actively seeking additional information regarding Friday night’s incident. Individuals with relevant details are encouraged to contact them by phone at 757–727–6111 or 1–888-LOCK-U-UP, or anonymously submit tips via a secure form at P3Tips.com.
