Peterborough police to walk 90 miles for Millie Blair
Police officers are planning a 90-mile walk to raise funds for a young girl battling bone cancer.
Millie Blair, 11, who previously played for Peterborough United FC, had to have her leg amputated earlier this year.
In an effort to help her get back to playing sports, fundraising events have been organised to pay for a new leg.
Millie's parents, both of whom work for Cambridgeshire Police, are being supported by their colleagues in organising the upcoming walk, set to begin at 6am on Friday, July 4.
The team will start the walk from Peterborough United FC, Millie’s former team, and finish at Chelsea FC, the team she supports.
The route spans roughly 90 miles and will be covered over three days, with 50 to 60 participants, mostly police officers and staff.
Day one will see the team walk from Peterborough United FC to St Neots, passing through towns and villages such as Yaxley, Stilton, Sawtry, and Huntingdon, to name a few.
Day two will cover the journey from St Neots to Welwyn Garden City, while day three will take the walkers from Welwyn Garden City to Chelsea FC, passing through Barnet, Hampstead, and Paddington.
The football clubs have shown their support by allowing the walk to start and finish in their stadiums.

Metropolitan Police will also be providing mounted officers for the last mile of the journey, acknowledging Millie’s love of horses.
The participants, including Millie’s father, Gordon, are determined to complete the three-day walk.
The aim is to raise as much awareness and funds as possible to help Millie get back to her love for sports.
The organisers are hopeful that the community will support this cause, which has already seen significant backing from various quarters.
