Can’t get a screenshot of it, but I have something in my iPhone 12 screen now that I can’t close out. It give me the choice of either microphone or iPhone mic and types out what I say unless I pause it. Can minimize and move it around in my screen, but can’t get rid of it!

If you can move around it in the screen and cannot get a screenshot of it then probably it is Assistive Touch. Try taking a using another Phone or camera.
You can use AssistiveTouch to adjust volume, lock your screen, use multi-finger gestures, restart your device or replace pressing buttons with just a tap.

Thank you for your reply and suggestion about photo. I looked at Assistive touch in settings and it’s turned off. Here’s a photo of my screen. I can minimize this, but am constantly needing to move it around to use apps, texts, etc.

Go to Settings > Accessibility > Live Captions and turn it off.
