Published 1 week ago1 minute read

In a major shift, MP for Atiwa East, Abena Osei-Asare, has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), a body responsible for scrutinizing government spending and ensuring public funds are used efficiently. She takes over from James Avedzi, the former Ketu North MP, who previously held the position.

Meanwhile, Isaac Adongo, the Bolgatanga Central MP, has been named Chairman of the Finance Committee. A vocal figure on economic matters, Adongo is expected to lead discussions on the national budget, tax policies, and financial regulations with a focus on economic stability and growth.

Additionally, Kwaku Agyemang Kwarteng will now head the Budget Committee, where his expertise will help shape budget planning and implementation to align with Ghana’s development agenda.

These strategic appointments signal Parliament’s renewed commitment to financial discipline, stronger oversight, and responsible governance, ensuring that national resources are managed effectively for sustainable development.
