Accra, Mar 08, GNA – In a bid to enhance legislative oversight and governance, Parliament has re-composed its committees, introducing notable leadership appointments.
Madam Abena Osei-Asare, New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Atiwa East has taken the reins as Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), succeeding Mr James Avedzi, a former National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP for Ketu North.
The PAC plays a crucial role in scrutinising government financial expenditures and ensuring accountability in the use of public funds.
Meanwhile, Mr Isaac Adongo, NDC MP for Bolgatanga Central, has been appointed Chair of the Finance Committee, bringing his expertise in economic and fiscal matters to the table.
Mr Adongo will lead the committee in reviewing the national budget, tax policies, and other critical financial issues.
On his part, Mr Kwaku Agyemang Kwarteng, NPP MP for Obuasi West has been appointed Chair of the Budget Committee, which oversees the preparation and implementation of the national budget.
This committee ensures that fiscal allocations align with Ghana’s developmental priorities.
These appointments demonstrate Parliament’s commitment to strengthening its oversight functions and promoting accountability in governance. With these new leadership appointments, Parliament is poised to play a more effective role in ensuring transparency and accountability in government.
