P-Square Feud Deepens as Peter Okoye Makes Fresh Allegations Against Family
The long-standing family crisis involving P-Square brothers Peter and Paul Okoye, and their elder brother Jude, has resurfaced with new allegations from Peter regarding the mistreatment of his wife, Lola Omotayo Okoye, and their late mother's role. While Paul responded to defend their mother, the public dispute has surprisingly led to a renewed interest in P-Square's music catalog, with several albums re-entering the charts.
The long-running dispute between P-Square stars Peter Okoye and Paul Okoye, alongside their elder brother Jude Okoye, has intensified following a series of fresh allegations by Peter. He accused family members, including his late mother, of mistreating his wife, Lola Omotayo, during a family confrontation years ago, while also alleging that Jude and Paul questioned the paternity of his son and opposed Lola’s pregnancy.
Peter further claimed that his late mother later acknowledged his son as her biological grandchild and urged Paul and Jude to apologize, but that the alleged apology never came before her death.
Peter also accused Jude, who managed P-Square at the time, of deliberately scheduling a show in Ghana on the eve of his wedding in an attempt to prevent him from attending. He alleged that Jude later posted a photograph with other musicians from a Mavin studio during the ceremony and made a remark suggesting the wedding would not have happened if their mother were alive.
Paul responded to Peter’s latest allegations with a brief message defending their late mother, writing that she was no longer alive to defend herself and should be allowed to rest.
The dispute extends beyond personal accusations into longstanding disagreements over royalties, company management and legal proceedings involving Jude, who is facing money-laundering charges and has pleaded not guilty. P-Square split in 2017, reunited in 2021 and broke up again in 2024, while Peter and Paul have since pursued separate careers.
Amid the renewed controversy, interest in the duo's music has also increased, with three of their albums climbing or returning to the Nigerian Apple Music Albums Chart, revealing the enduring appeal of one of Africa's most successful music acts.
