Ozzy Osbourne Doc Pulled Last Minute, Leaving Fans in Mystery!

A BBC documentary titled "Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home" was unexpectedly pulled from schedules just hours before its intended air date on Monday, August 18. The film, described as an intimate and moving account, chronicled the final three years of the iconic rock star's life, focusing on his and wife Sharon's planned return to the UK after 25 years in Los Angeles. It also captured his deteriorating health, affected by Parkinson's disease and multiple neck and spine surgeries, as he prepared for what would be his ultimate farewell gig.
Ozzy Osbourne passed away at the age of 76 on July 22, mere weeks after this monumental final performance at his home soccer stadium, Villa Park, in Birmingham. Despite being in "constant pain" and requiring round-the-clock nursing, Ozzy's determination to perform one last time for his devoted fans was unwavering. His doctors had finally approved his travel to the UK, and he underwent almost daily singing lessons to prepare for the show, wanting to conclude his career with a memorable impact.
The documentary was initially conceived as a reality series, "Home to Roost," documenting the Osbournes' move back to England. However, as Ozzy's health declined, the project evolved into the poignant "Coming Home," a portrait of a family facing the inevitable. The film was set to feature Sharon, Kelly, and Jack, offering a glimpse into their close-knit family dynamics and their acceptance of Ozzy's increasing unwellness, a sentiment echoed by Kelly's observation, "Iron man wasn't really made of iron."
The final show-stopping spectacular at Villa Park was an emotional event. Ozzy, taking the stage, confessed to the crowd, "I don’t know what to say, man, I’ve been laid up for like six years... You have no idea how I feel – thank you from the bottom of my heart." He performed a powerful five-song solo set, including fan favorites like "Mama, I'm Coming Home" and "Crazy Train." Following a brief intermission, he surprised fans by rejoining Black Sabbath for the first time in two decades, culminating in a rendition of "Paranoid."
In his last ever interview, Ozzy emphasized the profound significance of this "final encore," stating, "It’s my chance to say thank you to my fans for always supporting me and being there for me." He felt it was crucial to return to Birmingham, recalling childhood memories of the Aston Villa stadium, where he would earn shillings by helping car owners on match days. Amidst these powerful moments, his daughter Kelly Osbourne revealed her engagement to Sid Wilson, which took place backstage at this very gig. The BBC has since stated that the film has "moved in the schedules" and new premiere details will be shared, assuring that this "inspiring and poignant" account will eventually bring comfort and joy to Ozzy's millions of fans worldwide, celebrating his extraordinary life and his intense love for his family.
