Outrageous Office Worker's Smelly Morning Ritual Stuns Commuters!

A recent incident on a Thameslink train heading into central London has left social media users and fellow commuters baffled after a man was spotted heating up noodles in a microwave during his morning commute. The event, which occurred around 7:30 am, quickly became a viral sensation after footage was shared on TikTok by @depopdrama.
According to a fellow passenger who captured the video, the unnamed office worker, dressed in a smart shirt and trainers, brought a portable microwave onto the coach. He then proceeded to plug it into a charging point, typically designated for phones and laptops, to heat a packet of noodles. The sight of the man calmly eating his breakfast with chopsticks amidst a busy train carriage sparked immediate reactions.
Commuters reported a "strong smell of cooking wafting through the carriage," with some describing the situation as "chaotic" as people tried to navigate around the steaming pot. While the man himself appeared unfazed by the commotion, many others expressed frustration, raising concerns about safety and hygiene, and questioning this unusual breach of train etiquette.
The incident rapidly became an online talking point, with many users joking about the emergence of "breakfast noodles on the go." The TikToker who shared the video commented, "Image this happening to you at 7am on your morning commute," but also added, "I fully respect the hustle though, I respect the dedication. This man is an absolute bloody genius."
Despite the man's ingenuity, train regulations typically permit passengers to bring their own food but explicitly prohibit the use of personal heating devices, such as portable microwaves and kettles. Etiquette expert William Hanson further elaborated on appropriate train dining habits, telling Sun Online Travel that while food is often necessary for long journeys, certain items are off-limits. Hanson stressed that "eating food loudly or eating smelly food is a big no no," advising against pungent items like lamb baltis, fish, boiled eggs, strong cheeses, or citrus fruits that can "pong out the carriage." Instead, he recommended less offensive options such as cheddar, mozzarella, or a "humble sandwich" with a non-smelly filling, or a salad.
The video has garnered over 23,000 views in just one day, eliciting a mixed bag of reactions online. Some outraged individuals questioned the extreme measures, commenting, "How wild, whatever next kettle & Toaster." Others found it to be a "rare aesthetic," while some viewers were more lenient, suggesting, "you have too much free time. let him eat."
