This significant announcement was made by the National Chairman of the Accord Party, Barr. Maxwell Mgbudem, during an event held on Tuesday at the Osun State Government House in Osogbo. The gathering saw top party stalwarts, state executives, and national leaders in attendance for the formal unveiling of Governor Adeleke as the party’s governorship candidate.

Governor Adeleke's move to the Accord Party on Tuesday evening followed internal crises within his former party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He was subsequently cleared as the sole governorship candidate by the Accord Party's screening committee on Wednesday, ahead of the party’s primary for the 2026 election. Elder Ibe Thankgod, Chairman of the Accord Screening Committee and National Organising Secretary, confirmed that Governor Adeleke fulfilled all necessary requirements for his nomination and participation.
