Osimhen Transfer: Napoli Demands Two Reds Players
have demanded two Liverpool players plus cash in exchange for Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen as the Premier League champions register their interest in the Nigerian forward, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
According to Valter De Maggio, per Sportskeeda, Liverpool have offered Napoli Federico Chiesa and Darwin Nunez for Osimhen. However, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has informed Liverpool that they will only consider the bid if they add €20m.
Chiesa is valued at €14 million, while Nunez is valued at €45 million. Adding €20m to the two players’ values makes it €79m with Osimhen valued at €70m on Transfermarkt.
The 26-year-old striker has established himself as one of the best marksmen in the world over the past three years. Osimhen has wanted to leave Napoli for a bigger club since last summer but did not get his move and had to join Galatasaray on a season-long loan.
At Galatasaray, he delivered spectacularly, leading them to the domestic double with 37 goals and eight assists in 41 appearances across all competitions. His performances included an acrobatic overhead kick against Antalyaspor that was voted the Super Lig’s Goal of the Season, securing 65.8 per cent of fan votes.
Due to his impressive campaign, the Turkish giants now want to keep him permanently. However, there are speculations that some of the top English Premier League clubs want to acquire his services.
Osimhen’s future has been a subject of intense speculation in recent transfer windows. He was heavily linked with moves to Chelsea and Saudi Arabia last summer, but the forward eventually rejected both options before joining Galatasaray.
The Nigeria international has repeatedly turned down lucrative offers from the Middle East, with reports claiming Al-Hilal are preparing a new salary package worth €50m per year after he rejected a previous contract proposal worth €30m per season just two weeks ago.
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has suggested that Osimhen is waiting for a call from Old Trafford. However, United’s pursuit faces significant obstacles as the club are reportedly unwilling to re-enter the race until they receive an indication that Osimhen is prepared to adjust his wage demands.
Liverpool face stiff competition for Osimhen’s signature from several clubs across Europe as Italian Serie A powerhouse Juventus have also intensified their chase under new sporting director Damien Comolli.
The Reds are also looking at other attacking options like Hugo Ekitike and Benjamin Sesko, both of whom would also be expensive.
