Operation Sindoor Sparks National Pride: India's Military Action Hailed by Cricket Icons and Bollywood Stars

India's armed forces executed 'Operation Sindoor' in the early hours of Wednesday, launching precision missile strikes against nine terror targets across Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. These decisive actions, which included hitting strongholds of Jaish-e-Mohammed in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba in Muridke, were a direct retaliation for the barbaric terror attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, which resulted in the deaths of 26 people, mostly tourists.

The terror attack in Pahalgam had triggered widespread outrage both domestically and internationally. Following this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a high-level meeting with top defence brass on April 29, granted the armed forces "complete operational freedom" to determine the mode, targets, and timing of their response, leading to the precise execution of 'Operation Sindoor' to dismantle terrorist infrastructure.

The swift and firm response by India garnered immense praise from the nation's sporting fraternity. Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar encapsulated the sentiment, posting on 'X': "Fearless in unity. Boundless in strength. India's shield is her people. There's no room for terrorism in this world. We're ONE TEAM! Jai Hind." Other prominent cricketers like Virender Sehwag, Irfan Pathan, Suresh Raina, and Shikhar Dhawan also took to social media to laud the strikes. Sehwag famously wrote, "Agar koi aap par patthar phenke toh uspar Phool Phenko, Lekin Gamle ke saath (If someone throws stones at you then respond with flowers but not without the pots they are planted in). Jai Hind." Badminton ace Saina Nehwal, Olympic bronze medalist boxer Vijender Singh, and wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt also extended their support, with Yogeshwar highlighting "India's zero tolerance towards terrorism." Chess grandmaster Vidith Gujrathi expressed satisfaction, stating, "Terrorism must never go unanswered. And what a beautiful name for the operation. Bharat Mata ki Jai!"

The film industry equally commended the armed forces' valor. Actors Akshay Kumar, Kangana Ranaut, Allu Arjun, and Suniel Shetty were among many who praised the operation. Akshay Kumar captioned his post, "Jai Hind. Jai Mahakaal," while Kangana Ranaut, also a BJP MP, reiterated the government's "zero tolerance" stance on terrorism. "May justice be served. Jai Hind #OperationSindoor," said "Pushpa" star Allu Arjun. Jr NTR also expressed his support, "Praying for the safety & strength of our Indian Army in #OperationSindoor. Jai Hind! 🇮🇳" Suniel Shetty emphasized, "Zero tolerance. Total justice. #OperationSindoor." Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur noted that India's response demonstrated its responsibility and confidence, hitting terrorist organizations without resorting to war rhetoric. Other figures like Riteish Deshmukh, Madhur Bhandarkar, Nimrat Kaur (whose father was an Indian Army officer), Anupam Kher, and singer Adnan Sami collectively voiced their pride and solidarity with the armed forces, frequently using phrases like "Jai Hind" and "Bharat Mata ki Jai," underscoring a united national resolve against terrorism.
