Operation Sindoor: India's Military Action Hailed by Bollywood & Sports Legends

India's sporting and film fraternities united in an outpouring of support for 'Operation Sindoor', a series of precision missile strikes launched by the Indian armed forces against terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. These decisive strikes, carried out in the early hours of Wednesday, targeted nine terror strongholds, including key bases of Jaish-e-Mohammed in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba in Muridke.

The operation was a direct and firm retaliation to the barbaric terror attack that occurred on April 22 in Pahalgam, where 26 individuals, predominantly tourists, were gunned down. The widespread outrage following the Pahalgam incident led Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a high-level meeting on April 29, to grant the armed forces "complete operational freedom" to determine the mode, targets, and timing of their response.

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar led the sporting community's commendation, posting on 'X': "Fearless in unity. Boundless in strength. India's shield is her people. There's no room for terrorism in this world. We're ONE TEAM! Jai Hind." Former cricketers Virender Sehwag, Irfan Pathan, Suresh Raina, and Shikhar Dhawan also expressed their solidarity. Sehwag famously wrote, "Agar koi aap par patthar phenke toh uspar Phool Phenko, Lekin Gamle ke saath (If someone throws stones at you then respond with flowers but not without the pots they are planted in). Jai Hind." Dhawan, Pathan, and badminton ace Saina Nehwal simply tweeted: "Jai Hind." Olympic bronze medalist boxer Vijender Singh and wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt echoed sentiments of national pride, with Yogeshwar adding, "India's zero tolerance towards terrorism!! Jai Hind - Jai Jawan #sindoor." Chess ace Vidith Gujrathi lauded the operation's name and India's firm stance, stating, "I am glad India responded firmly with Operation Sindoor after the horrific Pahalgam attack. Terrorism must never go unanswered. And what a beautiful name for the operation. Bharat Mata ki Jai!"

The film industry also stood firmly behind the armed forces. Actors Akshay Kumar, Kangana Ranaut, Allu Arjun, and Suniel Shetty were prominent among those who praised the swift action. Akshay Kumar captioned a post on 'X' with "Jai Hind. Jai Mahakaal," referencing 'Operation Sindoor'. Kangana Ranaut, also a BJP MP, reiterated the government's "zero tolerance" stance on terrorism, wishing the forces "safety and success." "Pushpa" star Allu Arjun expressed, "May justice be served. Jai Hind #OperationSindoor," a sentiment echoed by Tollywood's megastar. RRR actor Jr NTR shared prayers for the "safety & strength of our Indian Army." Suniel Shetty concisely stated, "Zero tolerance. Total justice. #OperationSindoor."

Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur highlighted that India's response demonstrated its responsibility and confidence, noting it was a "precise hit at territories and organisation that backed the horrendous terrorists that killed innocent civilians" without resorting to war rhetoric. Other personalities like Riteish Deshmukh ("Jai Hind Ki Sena, Bharat Mata Ki Jai!!!!"), filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar ("One nation, together we stand. Jai Hind, Vande Mataram"), Nimrat Kaur (whose father was an Indian Army officer awarded the Shaurya Chakra, "United with our forces. One country. One mission."), Anupam Kher, and singer Adnan Sami also used social media to express their unequivocal support and nationalistic fervor for 'Operation Sindoor'.
