Versatile Nigerian winger Ridwan Sanusi has officially completed a transfer to Slovakian club AS Trencin, with the move finalized as the transfer window draws to a close. The 23-year-old's transfer to AS Trencin is a loan agreement from MŠK Žilina, set to keep him at the club until the end of the upcoming season.
Sanusi has had a dynamic career since his arrival in Europe in 2021, having played for five different Slovakian clubs prior to joining MŠK Žilina last year. His previous clubs include ŠKF Sereď, Slavoj Trebišov, FK Pohronie, FK Železiarne Podbrezová, and MŠK Žilina. Last season, Sanusi spent his time on loan at Podbrezová, where he made 25 appearances and provided three assists, contributing to the club's sixth-place finish in the Slovakian Niké Liga.
Upon his return to Žilina, it became clear that Sanusi was not part of the club's immediate plans, as evidenced by his repeated exclusion from matchday squads. This situation prompted his desire for regular playing time, leading to the loan move to AS Trencin. With his contract at Žilina also expiring at the end of the current campaign, a strong performance at AS Trencin could pave the way for a permanent transfer and a long-term offer from his new club.
Sanusi is a naturally right-footed player primarily operating on the right wing, but his versatility allows him to play effectively as a midfielder or on the left flank. He is recognized for his notable pace, strength on the ball, and overall adaptability on the field. Although he has yet to represent Nigeria at either age-grade or senior international level, Sanusi hopes this move to AS Trencin will help him establish consistent form and propel his professional career forward.
AS Trencin, who concluded last season in eighth place and last secured the league title in 2016, will be looking to improve their standing in the Niké Liga.
