Oasis Reunion Rocks World: Band Plots Epic Comeback & Tour Chaos

The highly anticipated Oasis reunion tour is now underway, featuring 41 dates booked across multiple continents for 2025. The immense demand for tickets was evident as 10 million people from over 100 countries attempted to secure a spot, resulting in record-time sell-outs. The legendary band kicked off their stadium shows in the UK and Ireland in July, including three sold-out performances at the Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh on August 8, 9, and 12.

Confirmed to rejoin the lineup for this long-awaited tour is bassist Andy Bell, who previously played with Oasis from 1999 to 2009 and was also a part of Liam Gallagher's post-Oasis project, Beady Eye. Bell expressed his excitement about his involvement in an interview with Austrian newspaper Oe24. He is expected to be joined by fellow Beady Eye bandmate Gem Archer, along with Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs on guitar and drummer Joey Waronker. Supporting acts for the tour include Cast, Richard Ashcroft, Cage The Elephant, and Ball Park Music.

Despite the excitement surrounding the reunion, the tour has been significantly marred by controversy over its ticket sales, leading the UK competition watchdog, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), to threaten legal action against Ticketmaster. The CMA launched an investigation after thousands of fans reported paying exorbitant prices for tickets. Concerns raised included Ticketmaster's sale of 'platinum' tickets for up to 2.5 times the standard price without offering additional benefits, often in the same seating areas. Furthermore, Ticketmaster allegedly failed to inform consumers about two different price categories for standing tickets, with the cheaper ones being sold first. Oasis, through a statement, distanced themselves from the dynamic pricing fiasco, clarifying they were 'not aware' the system would be used and that ticketing decisions were left entirely to their promoters and management. The band's statement emphasized that while a fair experience was intended, the 'unprecedented demand' made it impossible to achieve.

Manager Alec McKinlay has definitively stated that fans should not anticipate any new music from the band, nor any additional tour dates beyond the currently announced schedule. McKinlay, who is also a director at Ignition and Big Brother Recordings, clarified that this reunion is 'very much the last time around,' serving as an opportunity for fans who haven't seen the band to experience them live. He also detailed the stringent secrecy maintained before the comeback announcement, involving a highly limited group of trusted individuals, and described the public reaction as 'phenomenal' and a welcome piece of 'good news.' Liam Gallagher's prior social media hints about a 'finished' new album were ultimately dispelled by these official confirmations.

On stage, Liam Gallagher has continued to make headlines with his outspoken comments and altered performance behavior. He confirmed being banned from throwing his tambourine and maracas into the crowd at the end of gigs, a measure implemented after two individuals mobbed a female fan to snatch his maracas at a previous Wembley show. During the Scottish performances, Liam openly criticized Edinburgh Council Chiefs, reportedly calling them 'f*****g slags' after leaked documents allegedly characterized Oasis fans as 'fat, drunk, and rowdy.' He also made sarcastic remarks about the Fringe festival. However, he also took a moment to give a public shout-out to singer Susan Boyle at the final Murrayfield gig, an acknowledgement she gratefully appreciated.

Looking ahead, despite the success of the current tour, the band's future beyond 2025 remains uncertain. Rumours swiftly emerged about potential future shows, including offers for four major concerts at Knebworth House in 2026 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of their historic 1996 gigs, and a possible residency at Manchester City's Etihad Stadium. Private bidders and international festivals such as Coachella and Benicassim have also reportedly extended offers. However, sources close to the band indicate that Noel and Liam are not currently considering any plans for 2026 and intend to take a 'well-earned holiday' after the current tour. All such offers have reportedly been stonewalled so far, leaving the crucial decision to 'keep the magic going' or 'draw a line in the sand' ultimately up to the Gallagher brothers.

The reunion has not only delighted fans but has also served as an inspiration for fellow musicians. Kasabian frontman Serge Pizzorno revealed that the Oasis reunion provided the impetus to fast-track their next album. Pizzorno, who attended the opening night in Cardiff, described the experience as 'surreal and beautiful' and 'sonically incredible,' directly influencing Kasabian's accelerated plans for new music.
