Oasis Reignites Hopes: Reunion Tour, New Music & Ticketing Controversy Rock Fans

The long-awaited Oasis reunion tour is underway, drawing significant attention and generating a flurry of headlines across the music world. Bassist Andy Bell has officially confirmed his return to the band, joining Liam and Noel Gallagher. Bell, who played with Oasis from 1999 to 2009 and later in Liam Gallagher's project Beady Eye, brings extensive experience with the brothers' dynamic. He is expected to be joined by fellow Beady Eye bandmate Gem Archer, as well as Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs on guitar and drummer Joey Waronker, forming the live band. The tour features 41 dates booked for 2025, commencing in the UK and Ireland in July before extending across multiple continents. Notable support acts include Cast, Richard Ashcroft, Cage The Elephant, and Ball Park Music. The band's manager, Alec McKinlay, revealed the reunion news was meticulously kept under wraps by a small, trusted group to manage the immense anticipation. The tour's initial announcement was met with a “phenomenal” reaction, providing “good news” amidst global events. Sold-out shows at Scotland's Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium on August 8, 9, and 12 saw an astonishing 10 million people from over 100 countries attempting to secure tickets, which sold out in record time.
Despite the tour's success, controversy has marred the ticketing process. The UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has threatened legal action against Ticketmaster, citing “misleading” sales methods. The watchdog's concerns include the sale of 'platinum' tickets, which were marketed at up to 2.5 times the price of standard tickets without offering additional benefits and often being in the same seating areas, allegedly misleading customers into believing they were superior. Furthermore, Ticketmaster is accused of failing to disclose two different pricing tiers for standing tickets, with the cheaper options being sold out before the more expensive ones were released, causing confusion and frustration among fans. Oasis, however, disavowed responsibility for the dynamic pricing issues, stating they were “not aware” of the system's implementation. The band clarified that ticketing and pricing decisions are left entirely to their promoters and management, and while a “positive ticket sale strategy” was planned, its execution “failed to meet expectations” due to “unprecedented demand.”
The future of Oasis beyond the current tour is a subject of intense speculation and conflicting reports. Despite manager Alec McKinlay's previous statements ruling out new material and additional tour dates, offers for future engagements continue to emerge. Two contacts have reported an offer for four major shows at Knebworth House next year, commemorating the 30th anniversary of their iconic 1996 concerts. Should these shows materialize, Oasis would surpass Robbie Williams' record of three performances at the Hertfordshire venue. Additionally, rumors have surfaced about a potential residency at the Etihad Stadium, home of their beloved Manchester City, fueled by online speculation and even fake posters. However, sources close to the band indicate that Noel and Liam Gallagher are not currently considering any plans for 2026, intending to take a “well-earned holiday” after the current tour concludes. While they are aware of the speculation and fan desires to “keep the magic going,” the ultimate decision rests with the brothers on whether to “draw a line in the sand and close the door on this chapter” or continue. Offers from private bidders and major festivals like Coachella and Benicassim have reportedly been “stonewalled” thus far. Manager Alec McKinlay had previously stated that this tour is “very much the last time around, as Noel’s made clear in the press,” and reiterated, “No, there’s no plan for any new music.” Backstage, Noel Gallagher is reportedly keeping things retro, with his podcaster pal Matt Morgan noting the presence of Wagon Wheels in the green room. And in a memorable moment from the final Murrayfield gig, Liam Gallagher gave a shout-out to Susan Boyle, dedicating “Stand By Me” to her, much to her delight.
Beyond the Oasis phenomenon, the music and entertainment industry is abuzz with various celebrity happenings. Kasabian, inspired by the Oasis reunion, are fast-tracking their next album, expected to drop next year, aiming for their eighth consecutive number one. Their track “G.O.A.T.” has been reimagined in collaboration with Cristale and selected as the new title track for the 2025/26 Premier League season. Tom Grennan is set to release his new album, “Everywhere I Went, Led Me To Where I Didn’t Want To Be,” facing competition from Alison Goldfrapp, Conan Gray, and Maroon 5. New singles have also been released by Cat Burns (“All This Love”), Bambie Thug (“Redrum”), Moio (“Figure It Out”), and Ashnikko (“Trinkets”). Noughties fans can anticipate a 20th-anniversary edition of Supergrass's “Road To Rouen” in October, featuring an unreleased track. A new British rock, hip-hop, and grunge fusion band, Velour Fog, has released “The Zone.”
Celebrity personal news also made headlines. Jamie Dornan, a known advocate for cold-water swimming, showcased his passion and physique in a new Diet Coke advertisement. Angelina Jolie is reportedly preparing to sell her Hollywood home, purchased in 2017 to be near Brad Pitt, ahead of their youngest child's 18th birthday. Former Love Island star Maura Higgins has spoken about experiencing PTSD from the pressures of instant fame and finding herself in a “dark place” before taking control of her career; she is set to appear on “The Traitors US.” Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine has teased new music with a cryptic video, three years after their last album. Jenna Ortega sported bleached brows at a press conference in South Korea while promoting the second series of “Wednesday,” which will feature a sword fight between her character and Morticia, played by Catherine Zeta-Jones. Jade, from Little Mix, has enlisted her boyfriend Jordan Stephens for a cameo in her upcoming music video, preceding the release of her solo album “That's Showbiz Baby” on September 12. Beyonce generously gifted her dancers luxury items from Louis Vuitton after wrapping her extensive “Cowboy Carter” world tour. Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato reunited on stage for the first time in 15 years during the Jonas Brothers' 20th-anniversary tour, performing songs from “Camp Rock,” fueling speculation about a third film in the series. Perrie Edwards, also an ex-Little Mix member, announced her new single, “If He Wanted To He Would.”
In other entertainment news, My Chemical Romance is confirmed to headline Wembley Stadium on July 10 and 11 next year, marking two decades since their hit “Welcome To The Black Parade.” The horror film “Weapons,” starring Josh Brolin and Julia Garner, topped the UK box office, fending off “Freakier Friday.” Early discussions are underway to take the immersive play “You Me Bum Bum Train,” a favorite of Prince Harry and Madonna, to Las Vegas, with James Corden reportedly facilitating introductions. A biopic about the late Sinead O’Connor is in the works, directed by Josephine Decker. Metallica's Robert Trujillo recounted an anecdote from Ozzy Osbourne's funeral, suggesting the late rocker's mischievous spirit was present through peculiar weather changes and events during the service. Comedian Chabuddy G has been named the official PR for England's Red Roses women's rugby squad, featuring in a promotional video ahead of their World Cup campaign. Charli XCX watched a serial killer movie, “Heart Eyes,” with her fiancé George Daniel the night before their wedding.
