Nvidia Overtakes Microsoft to Become World's Most Valuable Company

AI chipmaker Nvidia achieved a significant milestone on Tuesday, June 4, 2025, overtaking tech giant Microsoft to become the world's most valuable publicly traded company. Nvidia's shares rose approximately 3.4% on the day, propelling its market capitalization to about $3.45 trillion, slightly ahead of Microsoft's $3.44 trillion. This ascent marks a reclaim of the top spot for Nvidia, which it last held on January 24. While its current share price is still around 7.77% below its 52-week high of $153.13 recorded in January, the stock has demonstrated strong momentum, surging over 45% since its April low.
The company's robust financial performance underpins its market leadership. For the first quarter ended April 27, Nvidia reported impressive revenues of $44.1 billion, a 12% increase from the previous quarter and a substantial 69% rise year-over-year. This growth has persisted despite geopolitical and regulatory uncertainties, including US President Donald Trump’s tariffs. Notably, sales of its H20 product line reached $4.6 billion for the first quarter of fiscal year 2026, showcasing continued demand for its advanced chip technology.
Nvidia has outlined ambitious plans for the future, centered on its dominance in Artificial Intelligence. The company has stated a mission to produce up to half a trillion dollars of AI infrastructure in the next four years. A key part of this strategy involves bolstering its manufacturing capabilities within the United States. As reported by ET in April, Nvidia will produce its AI supercomputers in the US for the first time. This includes key investments in specialized Blackwell chips in Arizona and the development of AI supercomputers in Texas, with manufacturing facilities spanning over a million square feet. Furthermore, the construction of supercomputer manufacturing plants in Texas, in collaboration with Foxconn, is actively underway.
Beyond its US expansion, Nvidia is also extending its AI infrastructure footprint globally. In May, the company unveiled the ‘Stargate UAE’ project, which aims to establish the world’s largest cluster of AI data centers outside the United States. The initial phase of this significant AI infrastructure development is located in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and involves collaboration with strategic partners such as OpenAI, Oracle, SoftBank Group, and Cisco.
Nvidia's strategy also heavily relies on close collaborations with other technology leaders. The company highlighted joint initiatives with Google aimed at advancing agentic AI solutions, robotics, and drug discovery. Moreover, Nvidia revealed the integration of its Nvidia Blackwell cloud instances with major cloud service providers, including AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Reports suggest that Google Cloud could be among the first to adopt Nvidia’s cutting-edge GB300 NVL72 and RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition GPUs, further solidifying Nvidia's central role in the evolving AI ecosystem.
