Northern Power Play: Benue Issues Fiery Warning Amidst ACF Leadership Tussle!

The Benue State chapter of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has issued a strong warning against any attempts to dominate the organization, asserting that it belongs equally to all 19 northern states. This declaration came alongside an unequivocal expression of support for the forum's National Chairman, Chief Mamman Mike Osuman (SAN), who is recognized as a respected son of Benue State.

In a communiqué released by Chief Silas Maclkpah, the Benue State chairman, and Benjamin Agusah, the secretary, the chapter urged all stakeholders to resist what it described as ongoing efforts to frustrate Chief Osuman's leadership or prematurely end his tenure. The statement highlighted a disturbing pattern of undermining prominent Benue sons within the ACF's leadership, referencing past experiences involving late Col. J. I. Ubah and late Chief Audu Ogbe, who were allegedly subjected to humiliation and pressure that forced them out of office.

The Benue chapter noted with concern that Chief Mamman Mike Osuman (SAN) is currently facing a similar trend. It firmly reiterated that no single individual or group should claim superior ownership of the ACF, emphasizing its role as a collective platform for all northern states, with Benue State being an integral part. The communiqué stressed the importance of allowing Chief Osuman to complete his tenure unhindered, without further abuse or interference.

Furthermore, the chapter called for restraint and cooperation among all stakeholders, advocating for internal stability to safeguard the integrity and purpose of the organization. It reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the growth and sustainability of the ACF, recognizing its significance as a key northern socio-cultural body. This stance comes amidst reported internal tensions within the forum's leadership, which recently led to the sealing of its national secretariat in Kaduna by security operatives to prevent a potential breakdown of law and order.
