North-East Onslaught: Troops Annihilate 12 Terrorists, Seize Arms in Major Borno Offensive

In a series of well-coordinated operations conducted between August 29-30 of 2025, troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), supported by the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and other security agencies, successfully neutralised 12 Boko Haram and Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Borno State. These long-range tactical raids targeted communities including Tamsu Ngamdu, Dalakaleri, Gaza, and Loskori Kura.
How it happened
During a fierce gun battle in Loskori Kura, the combined forces engaged the insurgents, resulting in the killing of 12 terrorists. The operations, which also benefited from intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) support from the Air Component, effectively cleared terrorist enclaves in the targeted areas.
Crucial items recovered from the operations included six AK-47 rifles, eight fully loaded magazines with 7.62mm ammunition, and a cache of assorted drugs and medical supplies. Security sources noted that some insurgents were observed receiving treatment for wounds sustained in earlier encounters with troops, indicating the effectiveness of the military’s ongoing pressure.
The aftermath
These successful operations have had significant disruptive effects on the insurgents’ mobility and logistics supply within the area. They form part of a broader strategy by the Nigerian military, which has intensified ground and aerial offensives across the North-East in recent months, specifically targeting Boko Haram and ISWAP hideouts in the Sambisa Forest, Lake Chad Basin, and the Mandara Mountains.
Military authorities have commended the resilience and determination of the troops, urging the Theatre Command to maintain the offensive against all terrorist elements in the region.
