Norrsken22 Powers African Tech Growth with Massive $205M Fund

Norrsken22, a dedicated tech growth equity fund, has successfully closed its inaugural African technology growth fund at an impressive $205 million, surpassing its initial target of $200 million. This milestone, announced in a press release, demonstrates strong backing from unicorn founders and institutional investors, addressing a critical gap in growth-stage tech funding across Africa.
Established in 2022, Norrsken22 was co-founded by Niklas Adalberth, founder of the Norrsken Foundation, and Hans Otterling, a Partner at technology investment firm Northzone, alongside an experienced investing team. The firm operates across Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, and Ghana, supported by over 30 unicorn founders, including Olugbenga Agboola (co-founder of Flutterwave), Niklas Zennström (co-founder of Skype), Jacob de Geer (co-founder of iZettle), Niklas Östberg (co-founder of Delivery Hero), Carl Manneh (co-founder of Mojang), Sebastian Knutsson (co-founder of King), and Willard Ahdritz (founder of Kobalt Music).
Norrsken22's core philosophy is that scalable entrepreneurship drives long-term and sustainable economic growth. The fund focuses on entrepreneurs developing innovative solutions in fintech, edtech, medtech, and other enabling sectors, aiming to generate strong financial returns while creating a positive impact across Africa.
Managing Partner Lexi Novitske highlighted the recent decline in African tech funding, noting that the closure of this $205M fund allows Norrsken22 to catalyze the growth of Africa’s most promising tech companies. She emphasized Africa’s status as having the world’s highest entrepreneurship rate, combined with rapid digital adoption, a young population, and vast socio-economic challenges, making it a compelling investment destination.
