Nollywood Drama 'EVI' Unveils Star-Studded Cast: Osas Okonyon, Uzor Arukwe & Omowunmi Dada!

A poignant new Nigerian film, 'EVI', is poised to captivate cinema audiences with its deeply emotional narrative. Written and directed by the talented Uyoyou Adia, this upcoming project is a collaborative effort by Judith Audu Productions, Switch Visuals Productions, Signet Rings Productions, and NOI Productions.

At the heart of "EVI" is Evi-Oghene Donalds, a musician blessed with immense talent but hampered by an equally immense ego. As her career rapidly ascends in the music industry, her world is abruptly shattered when her record label collapses. This unforeseen event strips away the glamour, leaving her to navigate the challenging realities of lounge gigs and a waitressing job, forcing her into the uncomfortable yet necessary process of starting over.

During this period of rebuilding, Evi's path intertwines with that of Kola Adeloye, a once-celebrated talent manager whose own life is spiraling due to alcohol and gambling addictions. Their initial, desperate alliance forged out of necessity gradually deepens, compelling both characters to confront their personal flaws, the choices they've made, and the profound cost of loyalty. The fragility of their partnership is ultimately put to the test when Evi's career unexpectedly reignites and she finds herself back in the spotlight.

The film boasts a strong ensemble cast, with Osas Okonyon taking on her first feature film lead role as Evi. She is ably supported by Uzor Arukwe as Kola Adeloye, alongside Omowunmi Dada, Ibrahim Suleiman, Waje Iruobe, Tomiwa Tegbe, and Femi Branch, among others.

Speaking about her transformative experience embodying Evi, Osas Okonyon shared, "Evi’s journey is a powerful reminder that talent is only half the story—humility and who you choose to bring along are just as important. It’s a privilege to debut with a character that has so much heart and an inspiring arc of redemption."

Producer Judith Audu elaborated on what attracted her to the story, describing "EVI" as a profound exploration of pride, loyalty, and the quiet strength required to rebuild after life crumbles. She highlighted the rewarding collaboration with partners such as CCHUB, Africa No Filter, and the Gates Foundation, whose missions resonate with the film's message of social impact and personal change. Audu emphasized that 'EVI' delivers a timely and crucial narrative about individuals confronting their inner demons and ultimately discovering their authentic selves.

"EVI" is set to premiere in cinemas across Nigeria on March 27. The project is powered by CCHUB, in partnership with Africa No Filter, and receives support from the Gates Foundation.
