Nigeria Tragedy: 'Anthony Joshua' Hospitalized Amidst Deaths of Foreign Nationals

The Ogun State Government has officially confirmed a tragic road accident that occurred on Monday along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, within the Makun axis of Ogun State. The incident involved the vehicle conveying world heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, who fortunately escaped with his life. Sadly, the fatal crash claimed the lives of two male foreign nationals, whose remains have since been deposited at the Livewell Mortuary in Sagamu.
The confirmation was issued in a statement by Kayode Akinmade, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Information and Strategy. In the statement, the Ogun State Government extended its profound condolences to the families, friends, and associates of the victims, acknowledging the deep sorrow caused by this unfortunate event.
Preliminary findings disclosed by Akinmade indicate that the two foreign nationals died instantly at the scene of the crash. Anthony Joshua and the driver of the vehicle were promptly rescued by security personnel attached to Joshua's convoy and were taken to a hospital for medical attention.
Regarding the cause of the accident, the state government revealed that the sport utility vehicle, carrying Joshua and other occupants, rammed into a stationary truck on the expressway. The severely damaged vehicle has since been evacuated to the Sagamu Motor Traffic Division office, and arrangements are underway to tow the involved truck to the same location to facilitate a comprehensive investigation.
Describing the incident as deeply unfortunate and painful, the Ogun State Government seized the opportunity to urge motorists to exercise utmost caution and strictly adhere to traffic regulations, especially during the festive season when traffic volume typically increases. The government also called upon road safety officers and security agencies to intensify surveillance across the state to prevent future occurrences. The statement concluded with prayers for the repose of the souls of the departed and for the speedy recovery of the injured, while asking for divine fortitude for the bereaved families to bear their irreparable loss.
