Nigeria's Ambitious Plan: New Sponsorship Deal to Forge African Shooting Hub!

The Nigeria Shooting Federation (NSF) is poised to forge a significant three-year renewable sponsorship agreement with ILLI, a leading global shooting sports ammunition manufacturer. This strategic partnership, disclosed by Federation President Commodore Shettima Mohammed Shagir during an ongoing Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC)/Olympic Solidarity Seminar on Good Governance in Abuja, marks a pivotal moment for shooting sports in Nigeria, with the ambitious goal of transforming the nation into a regional hub for the sport.

Commodore Shagir revealed that a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has already been submitted to ILLI, which he described as one of the biggest producers of shooting sports ammunition worldwide. The proposed agreement is designed to be comprehensive, encompassing the provision of essential ammunition and equipment, financial support for the federation's participation in international competitions, and broader initiatives aimed at developing shooting sports across Nigeria. The president emphasized that the partnership extends beyond merely strengthening the national team; its core vision is to establish Nigeria as a premier regional center for shooting sports development, serving not only Nigeria but also the entire sub-Saharan Africa.

A critical component of this partnership is its commitment to grassroots development. Shagir affirmed that nurturing talent from the foundational level is integral to the arrangement, as the ambition to become a regional hub necessitates widespread development opportunities for athletes and stakeholders throughout the country.
