Expect around 70 Nigerian designers and 30 international ones, plus a hair show and a makeup artistry showcase folded into the three days.
Lagos Fashion Week (LFW): The One the World Actually Knows
If you have seen African fashion coverage in the international press, you have almost certainly seen Lagos Fashion Week, not NFW. It was founded in 2011 by Omoyemi Akerele and produced by Style House Files.
LFW is the platform that has sent designers like Kenneth Ize and Orange Culture toward global recognition, LVMH Prize shortlists and Woolmark nominations.
LFW 2026 runs October 28 to November 1, in Lagos. It is a full five-day stretch and a different month-end from NFW entirely. It is bigger in scale, pulling in over 60 designers, tens of thousands of attendees, and sponsorship muscle from names like Heineken and MTN.
It also runs Fashion Focus Africa and a Green Access sustainability track, alongside its own showroom and talk series.
Where NFW leans into "Made in Nigeria" and local sourcing as a mandate, LFW positions itself as pan-African with roughly 80% Nigerian designers, 20% from across the continent, including Ghana, Kenya and Côte d'Ivoire.
Africa Fashion Week Nigeria (AFWN)
Then there is Africa Fashion Week Nigeria, which shares two-thirds of its name with both events above and adds to the list.
AFWN calls itself the largest global showcase of emerging African creatives, built specifically around giving new designers exposure alongside runway shows and networking sessions.
Unlike NFW and LFW, AFWN doesn't carry the same decades-long institutional weight or global press footprint but it is active, Nigerian and its name is close enough to the other two that search engines (and readers) regularly lump it in with them.
