New York Liberty: Most Valuable Women's Sports Franchise

The New York Liberty have achieved a historic valuation of $450 million, making them the most valuable team in the WNBA and setting a new record across professional women's sports. This valuation was revealed after the Liberty raised capital from a group of investors, as reported by The Athletic.
This landmark valuation surpasses previous benchmarks in women's sports. Ben Pickman of The Athletic noted that it is more than double the valuation of the Dallas Wings, who last summer sold two half-percent stakes at a $208 million valuation. Earlier this month, Alexis Ohanian invested $26.5 million for an 8 percent stake in Chelsea Women, valuing the team at $326 million.
The capital raise is aimed at funding a new 75,000-square-foot practice facility in Brooklyn's Greenpoint neighborhood, slated to open in 2027. This state-of-the-art training center will feature two full practice courts, private suites for each player, a comprehensive recovery suite, an in-house hair and makeup studio, and a two-story strength training room.
Currently holding a 1-0 record, the New York Liberty are the reigning WNBA champions and are focused on defending their title. Their next game is a road match against the Chicago Sky on Thursday night.
