New Political Front Emerges: 8 New Parties Eyeing Official Registration via INEC!

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced a significant development in the registration process for new political parties, with eight out of 14 pre-qualified associations successfully completing the initial phase of documentation. These associations, namely All Democratic Alliance (ADA), Citizens Democratic Alliance (CDA), Abundance Social Party (ASP), African Alliance Party (AAP), Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA), Green Future Party (GFP), National Democratic Party (NDP), and Peoples Freedom Party (PFP), have uploaded all necessary information and documents onto INEC's dedicated online portal.
Sam Olumekun, INEC National Commissioner and chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, shared this update in a statement from Abuja on Friday. He detailed that a briefing for the 14 pre-qualified associations was held on Tuesday, September 17, 2025. Following this, the Commission activated its dedicated portal for document uploads, which remained open from Wednesday, September 18, until midnight on Friday, October 18, 2025. As of Saturday, October 19, 2025, eight of the fourteen associations had successfully met the upload requirements.
Olumekun further outlined the subsequent stages in the registration journey, which involve a thorough assessment and verification of the submitted information and documents from each association. This meticulous process is designed to ensure strict conformity with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), the Electoral Act 2022, and the Commission’s Regulations and Guidelines for Political Parties (2022).
Reaffirming its dedication to upholding democratic tenets, INEC expressed its commitment to inclusivity, transparency, and the continuous deepening of Nigeria’s democratic culture throughout this vital process.
