New Entry-Level TVS Electric Scooter Under Development - Details

Published 1 week ago3 minute read

TVS Motor Company is working on an all-new entry-level electric scooter for the Indian market. It will be positioned below the iQube e-scooter in TVS portfolio as it goes on sale during the Diwali festive season (Oct-Nov) later this year in the country. The Hosur-based two-wheeler brand topped the sales chart in electric scooter sales last month by leaving behind the likes of Ola Electric and Bajaj Auto. Hence, it seems quite obvious from TVS to develop new models in the EV space and consolidate its top position in the segment.

The new budget-friendly electric scooter is likely to get a small battery, basic features and simple hardware. TVS is believed to be doing everything possible to keep the costs low and offer this e-scooter at an immensely aggressive price point to undercut rival brands. It might equip the new electric scooter with a hub-mounted motor, sourced from Bosch, as we have seen in the iQube.

The sources closer to the development have revealed that the new TVS electric scooter could be launched at around Rs 90,000 (ex-showroom). It will be the most affordable electric scooter in TVS portfolio. However, due to the smaller battery pack, the range and top speed will also be affected and it might well miss out on multiple fancy features that we see in other electric scooters.

TVS iQube is available in a total of five variants with three battery pack options. The country’s best-seller electric scooter in Apr 2025 is retailed at a starting price of Rs 1 lakh with the 2.2 kWh battery pack while the price goes as high as Rs 2 lakh for the 5.1 kWh battery variant. In addition, the mid-spec ST variants of the electric scooter are offered with a 3.4 kWh battery.

Presently, there is no word on the name of this new budget-friendly electric scooter from TVS. However, it could be called the Jupiter EV, given the popularity of this nameplate in the ICE segment. The company is also working on a CNG version of the Jupiter which was showcased at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo earlier this year in concept form.

The Jupiter CNG is expected to launch by early 2026 in the Indian market. In addition, TVS is working on multiple products in the scooter segment for the Indian market. It is also readying the 150cc version of the Ntorq to rival the likes of Hero Xoom 160 and Yamaha Aerox 155 in the domestic market. Identical to the new entry-level electric scooter, TVS Ntorq 150 is likely to launch during the festive season of Diwali later this year.
