Netflix Knockout: Paul-Joshua Bout Smashes 33 Million Viewer Record!

The recent boxing match between Jake Paul and former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua on December 20, 2025, proved to be a significant viewership success for Netflix, despite Paul's knockout loss. The highly anticipated event, held at Kaseya Center in Miami, attracted a global average minute audience of 33 million viewers, according to figures released by Netflix. This substantial viewership positioned the fight as the network's top-ranked program in 45 countries worldwide, encompassing major markets such as the U.S., U.K., Canada, Germany, Australia, Mexico, and Argentina. In addition to Netflix's direct streaming numbers, an estimated 600,000 viewers watched the event through Everpass, a commercial streaming service, at various commercial properties, further expanding its reach.

This event marks the second major boxing venture for Netflix in the year, following the September fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford, which garnered an impressive 41.5 million viewers. Notably, Jake Paul's prior event in November 2024 against boxing legend Mike Tyson currently holds the record as the most-streamed sporting event ever on Netflix, achieving a peak viewership of 108 million. These figures underscore Netflix's growing influence in broadcasting combat sports and the significant draw of Jake Paul's fights.

In the bout itself, the 28-year-old Jake Paul (12-2, 7 KOs) faced considerable odds against Anthony Joshua (29-4, 26 KOs), a celebrated former Olympic gold medalist and two-time heavyweight world champion. Concerns were raised within the boxing community regarding the Florida Athletic Commission's decision to sanction the fight, given the disparity in professional experience. The fight culminated in the sixth round when Joshua delivered a powerful right hand that resulted in a knockout, also causing Paul to suffer a broken jaw. Despite the injury, Paul has publicly acknowledged it on social media and has already declared his intention to return to the ring. The event was a joint promotion by Paul's Most Valuable Productions and EverWonder, achieving the distinction of generating the highest-grossing boxing gate in the history of Kaseya Center.
