NECO Warns Public, Disowns Fake Facebook Account

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially disowned a fraudulent Facebook account created in the name of its Registrar/Chief Executive, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi. The council issued a public warning concerning this impersonation attempt, stating its aim is to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
According to NECO, the primary objective behind the creation of this fake Facebook account is to deceive and defraud. The council emphasized that the impersonators are attempting to exploit the Registrar's name and position for malicious purposes, aiming to swindle individuals.
In a statement released in Abuja on a Sunday by Mr. Azeez Sani, NECO’s Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, the council strongly advised the public to be vigilant. "The Council wishes to draw the attention of the public to the existence of this fake Facebook account in order to avoid being swindled by the fraudsters," the statement read in part, urging caution to prevent potential financial losses or other harm.
Furthermore, NECO confirmed that it has taken steps to address this fraudulent activity. The council stated that security agents have been duly informed about the fake account and the individuals behind it. "Security agents have been informed to take appropriate action against the perpetrators of this fraudulent act," NECO added, indicating that measures are underway to bring them to justice.
