The National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joseph Yamin has condemned the violent actions related to the Ablekuma North election.

He urged political figures to be mindful of their actions and words for it could lead to tensions.

Speaking to the media on July 11, 2025, during his visit to the St. Peter’s polling station, he said, "Any violence in any election, no matter the state of it, is condemnable."

He continued, "So, whatever happened there is not something that we could go on. But it's also advice to us, the politicians. And at certain times when we get to these stages, we should know measured in whatever we say, whatever actions that we take, because it might ignite or it inflates some bit of passion that results in what happened, but it's condemnable.”

Joseph Yamin expressed optimism in the victory of the NDC, saying, "Well, we are expectant of victory, and that is what we are looking for. And I'm sure we are not alone. A lot of people are around wanting to see the outcome of this election. It's an election that every Ghanaian wants to know the outcom ofe. And we are very hopeful that the NDC will carry the day.

Tensions escalated during the parliamentary rerun when a group of unidentified macho men stormed St. Peter’s Polling Station, disrupting the electoral process and attacking political figures and journalists.

Video footage showed some of the thugs striking Hawa Koomson, causing her to fall. The videos then captured the former MP being dragged while she was still on the ground.

The entire polling station descended into chaos, with men in plain clothing seen clashing with one another.

Some police officers at the scene, along with individuals believed to be members of the former MP’s security detail, managed to rescue and whisk her away from the area.
