NDC hopeful of victory in all 19 Ablekuma North Polling Stations - Dafeamekpor - BusinessGhana

Speaking in an interview on the GTV Breakfast Show on Thursday, July 11, 2025, Mr Dafeamekpor explained that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had consistently called for a rerun due to irregularities that compromised the initial results in the 19 polling stations.

He noted that it was through his efforts that the Electoral Commission was summoned before Parliament to address the issue, ultimately leading to the decision to hold a rerun.

“We are hopeful of winning all the 19 polling stations,” he stated. We have always been ready. We’ve been demanding action for months. I filed a question in Parliament, and three weeks ago, we brought the Electoral Commission to explain the situation. That’s what led to the rerun being scheduled,” he said.

Mr Dafeamekpor emphasized that the NDC firmly believes it won the original election but was denied victory due to disruptions at the collation center.

He also addressed the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) boycott, noting that the party has challenged the decision to rerun the election in all 19 polling stations, arguing that only three were affected.

‎“We were winning, and we were comfortable. But chaos broke out during the collation, and that’s why we are where we are now. Thankfully, tomorrow, the people of Ablekuma North will have the chance to vote again.”

‎“If they agree that even three polling stations had issues, then it means there were problems. We said 37, they said 3, and the Electoral Commission settled on 19," he stressed.

"The EC, NDC, and NPP do not have the original results for these 19 stations. So how can anyone object to the rerun?”

He questioned the sincerity of the NPP’s protests and petitions to the Electoral Commission, pointing out the irony of their refusal to participate in the rerun.

He concluded by urging voters in Ablekuma North to turn out in large numbers and vote for the NDC to ensure effective representation in Parliament.

‎“Were they protesting just for show? If they believe only three should be rerun, then they can come and participate in just those three. We will be at all 19.”

The rerun follows the dismissal of an interim injunction filed by NPP parliamentary candidate Nana Akuamoah Owusu Afriyie, who sought to halt the process.

With the court's ruling, the Electoral Commission is proceeding with the rerun as scheduled on July 11, 2025.
