NCAA: Max Air most unresponsive domestic airline to passenger complaints

In a post on X on Thursday, Michael Achimugu, director of public affairs and consumer protection at the NCAA, said the authority had also received reports that Max Air allegedly threatened travel agencies for reporting incidents to the regulator.

“According to NCAA data, Max Air has been the most unresponsive domestic airline per passenger complaints and determinations by the NCAA CPD,” Achimugu said.

“In some cases, there have been allegations of threats to travel agencies for daring to report to the CAA. This will be put to a stop immediately.”

Also, the director said Air Côte d’Ivoire, the Ivorian national carrier, has been reported for cancelling flights on days when “they do not have enough passengers”.

Achimugu alleged that the airline attempts to merge flights across different days to meet its preferred passenger targets.

“Both cases will be handled expeditiously by the NCAA,” he added.

The director said that although the authority supports all airlines and acknowledges that disruptions are sometimes unavoidable, adherence to regulations is compulsory and not “a choice of convenience”.
