NBA Star Clarke Busted! Grizzlies Player Faces Drug, Speeding Charges in Arkansas

Memphis Grizzlies forward Brandon Clarke was arrested on Wednesday in Arkansas, facing multiple charges including speeding and possession of a controlled substance. The incident occurs while Clarke has been significantly impacted by injuries, having played only two games this season, and has been officially ruled out for the remainder of the current NBA campaign.
According to the Cross County Sheriff's Department in Arkansas, Clarke was booked into jail on Wednesday afternoon. The specific charges logged against the 6-foot-7 forward include improper passing, exceeding the speed limit, fleeing from law enforcement, possession of a controlled substance, and trafficking a controlled substance. The department's website also provided a booking photo for Clarke.
Clarke, who is currently in his seventh season since leaving Gonzaga, has endured a challenging season primarily due to health setbacks. He initially missed 26 games while recovering from surgery on his right knee. After making a brief return for two games in December, he subsequently sustained a right calf strain. On March 24, the Grizzlies announced that Clarke was continuing his rehabilitation but recent tests indicated a need for further healing before he could be cleared for "high-intensity court work." Consequently, the team confirmed Clarke is out for the rest of this season and is expected to return for the next season.
When questioned about the report, Grizzlies coach Tuomas Iisalo stated before Wednesday night's game against New York, "I'm aware of the report, but don't have any comments."
