Dylan Harper was selected in the 2025 NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs, who are hoping for a third consecutive Rookie of the Year winner.
The Spurs have had a top-four pick in each of the last three drafts. They selected Victor Wembanyama as the first overall pick in 2023, and Stephon Castle as the fourth overall pick in 2024.
Both players went on to win Rookie of the Year awards, with Wembanyama also leading the league in blocks in his second season, despite missing much of it due to a blood clot concern.
Harper averaged 19.4 points per game last season on 48.4% field goal percentage. He also shot 33.3% from three-point range along with 4.0 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game.
The Rutgers guard was the second overall pick in the draft, behind the highly rated Cooper Flagg, and believes he can already make an impact in San Antonio.
“I think when you play with a bunch of great players, it just brings the best out of you,” Harper told ESPN.
“They've got a great young core over there. I'm just ready to get in there and make an impact anywhere I can with those guys.
“I think all my life it's always been how can I go somewhere where you make something happen and obviously get to the championship.
“I think with that young group, they're in the right direction. They've got a great everything, man, from the front office to the equipment manager, to the video guy. They all around are great. I think the coach over there is great. I'm just happy that I'm a part of it now.”
The Spurs also selected forward Carter Bryant of Arizona with the number 14 pick.
He blocked 37 shots last season, seventh-most by a freshman in Arizona history.
