National Unity Platform or National Useless Platform: NUP MPs Expose Their Incompetence in Parliament

Published 2 days ago3 minute read

The National Unity Platform (NUP), which boasts of 57 legislators in Uganda’s 11th Parliament, has shockingly failed to make its presence felt, according to a classified list leaked to our source, nearly all its MPs are ranked among the most silent, dormant and for lack of a better word  ”useless” MPs.

Leading the list of underwhelming and inactive legislators is Kazibwe Bashir (Kawempe South), Mukasa Aloysius (Lubaga South), Nyeko Derick (Makindye East), Nsubuga Paul (Busiro North), Matovu Charles (Busiro North), Sserukenya David, Sserubula Stephen, Nakaziba Suzan, Nabukeera Hanifa, Simbwa Fred, Kayondo Fred, and Nabukenya Brendah.

Joining this long list of invisible MPs are Nakiyembe Harriet, Kanyike Ronald, Nakabuye Juliet, Nanyondo Veronica, Nandagire Christine, Nambooze Teddy, Ssazi Godfrey, Nalule Aisha, and Kabuye Frank, among many other NUP members who seem to have gone mute in Parliament.

List of most vocal and non vocal MPs

Despite their loud chants about “removing a dictator” and riding on a wave of populism and sympathy, these NUP MPs have miserably failed to deliver, raising serious doubts about their competence and commitment to representing their voters.

Their poor performance and deafening silence in Parliament have hardly surprised Ugandans, as the National Unity Platform prioritized favoritism over merit when handing out party tickets. Allegations of bribery, sectarianism, and Bobi Wine’s decision to reward fellow musicians and comedians with parliamentary seats have only cemented the party’s failure to produce effective legislators.

No wonder the National Unity Platform legislators are only known for causing violence in the house, boycotting plenary sessions and committee sessions as well as spending time organizing violent demonstrations in the city, with no tangible developmental activities in their respective constituencies.

Robert Kyagulanyi and the National Unity Platform (NUP) have turned Parliament into a circus of incompetence, driven by sheer ideological bankruptcy.
Lacking any real vision or agenda, NUP’s so-called leadership has turned into shameless politicking, dishing out party tickets to clueless relatives and friends, while pushing a dangerous tribal agenda to manipulate gullible supporters.

Rather than championing meaningful change, they have mastered the art of deception, exploiting emotions for political gain while securing foreign funding to fill their own pockets.
Their entire strategy revolves around playing the victim, staging cheap political chaos, and fooling their supporters with empty promises in a desperate move to stay relevant.

They invest all their time in deceiving their voters and misleading them into violent demonstrations as the principals live lavish lives, educating their children from abroad at the expense blood and freedom of innocent Ugandans.

The deafening silence and sheer incompetence of NUP legislators expose the party for what it truly is—a pathetic assembly of clueless, self-serving opportunists who care more about their personal gains than the voters who foolishly entrusted them with power.

If voters genuinely want progress and development, they must abandon this circus of “Bafeeres” and support seasoned, results-driven leaders from experienced parties like the National Resistance Movement (NRM).

The writing is on the wall—NUP has absolutely nothing to offer Ugandans, and 2026 should be the year they are kicked out for good.
