'My Tasty Naija' Food Festival Launched in London

The acclaimed YouTube series ‘My Tasty Naija’ is making a significant leap from the digital screen to a vibrant physical event with the launch of its inaugural ‘My Tasty Naija’ Food Festival. This much-anticipated event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Chingford Rugby Club in London. The series, which commenced in January 2024, began as a digital exploration of Nigerian-African culinary culture and has since evolved into a powerful cultural movement, celebrated for its dynamic spotlight on Nigerian food.
Created by British-Nigerian media entrepreneur and cultural advocate Abass Tijani, ‘My Tasty Naija’ has become a premier platform for showcasing the rich tapestry of Nigerian cuisine across the UK and internationally. The show has taken viewers on diverse culinary journeys, from visiting popular suya spots in Peckham to highlighting jollof specialists in Wembley, consistently celebrating the finest Nigerian dining experiences available.
A notable episode featured a trip to Manchester to profile Yetti’s Kitchen, founded by Chef Yetti Tabai, who holds the rare distinction of being one of the few Nigerian chefs with an in-flight catering license. In a spectacular segment, Chef Tabai demonstrated the sophistication and elevated nature of Nigerian cuisine by showcasing her dishes aboard a private jet flight from Manchester to Glasgow. The series has also expanded its reach internationally, featuring segments filmed at Kunle Afolayan’s Afefeyeye Restaurant in Nigeria and Enish Dubai, thereby reinforcing the idea that Nigerian food transcends geographical boundaries.
The upcoming ‘My Tasty Naija’ Food Festival promises a rich cultural experience. Highlights include over 20 vendors serving an authentic array of Nigerian dishes, traditional drinks, and snacks. Attendees can look forward to live DJ sets featuring a vibrant mix of Afrobeats, highlife, and other cultural rhythms. The festival will also host engaging games, exciting competitions, and showcases of fashion, arts, and crafts, all designed to highlight the beauty and creativity inherent in African culture.
A particularly exciting feature of the festival is the inaugural Junior Chef Competition. This event will provide a platform for young culinary talents, aged 13 to 17, to shine in a thrilling live jollof cook-off. According to Abass Tijani, the creator of ‘My Tasty Naija’, the festival is more than just a culinary gathering. He emphasized, “This is more than just a food event; it’s about preserving our culture, celebrating our identity, and creating unforgettable experiences.”
