'My Tasty Naija' YouTube show to hold food festival in London - TheCable Lifestyle
‘My Tasty Naija’ launched in January 2024 as a digital exploration of Nigerian-African culinary traditions.
The show, created by British-Nigerian media entrepreneur and cultural advocate Abass Tijani, spotlights the richness and diversity of Nigerian food across the UK and beyond.
The festival, its organisers said in a statement on Friday, is to be held on July 13 at the Chingford Rugby Club in London, UK.
It is billed to be held from 1 pm to 8 pm.
The event will feature over 20 vendors serving authentic Nigerian dishes, drinks, and snacks, as well as live DJ sets spinning Afrobeats and highlife music.
Beyond food and music, guests will enjoy games, competitions, and a rich showcase of African creativity through fashion, arts, and crafts.
There will also be a Junior Chef Competition, where young talents aged 13 to 17 will compete in a thrilling live jollof rice cook-off.
“From visiting suya spots in Peckham to jollof specialists in Wembley, My Tasty Naija has celebrated the very best of Nigerian dining experiences,” the organisers said.
“In a standout episode, the team travelled to Manchester to profile Yetti’s Kitchen, whose founder, Chef Yetti Tabai, is one of the few Nigerian chefs with an in-flight catering licence.
“In a spectacular segment, she took the crew aboard a private jet flight from Manchester to Glasgow, showcasing the sophistication and elevation of Nigerian cuisine in the air.”
‘My Tasty Naija’ has filmed episodes at Kunle Afolayan’s Afefeyeye Restaurant in Lagos and Enish Dubai.
Speaking about the festival, Tijani noted that it is “more than just a food event”.
“It is about preserving our culture, celebrating our identity, and creating unforgettable experiences,” he added.
